Duets, an examination of relationships and that funny little thing we call love, sets the stage of Baran’s Theatre Restaurant alight, with memorable songs sung by Lu Chase and Riyaan Cornelius. This tribute to some of the greatest duets is directed by Rafiek Mammon. It runs from 4 July to 21 July at 8.30 pm nightly. Tickets cost R65.
Love is complex. Even in committed relationships, people fall in and out of love with one another all the time. This show tells a story, through song, of a young couple who, despite the temptations of world and the ebb and flow of their own egos, know that they are the best thing in each others lives. Follow their rocky journey through the words and melodies of some of the best known and loved duets. Songs include classics such as Separate Lives, Unforgettable, Endless Love and I’ve got you, babe, as well as recent chart toppers.
Riyaan Cornelius and Lu Chase star in Duets. The two singers have already established themselves as quality performers in recent years, with Riyaan performing to full houses in productions such as Mike Mc Cullagh’s Motown Magic and Myths and Legends, Jason Guiles’ Rock Evolution and Rafiek Mammon’s That Crazy Little Thing. Lu has performed in various productions including Independent Women, Wine, Women and oops Webber and Hit me with a Hot Note. Each of the performers are lead singers in their own bands, Riyaan heading the popular rock ‘n reggae band, Bastille and Lu’s soulful vocals guiding Iridium Project.
Duets is directed by Rafiek Mammon, former Cape Times arts editor and previous Fleur Du Cap judge. His credits includes Woman in the Moon, That Crazy Little Thing and the popular, critically acclaimed, Let’s Mix It. ,
